The process of preparation, measurement, and distribution of CRMs

The Slovak Institute of Metrology (SMÚ) produces and certifies high-quality, cost-competitive reference materials. During the certification process, SMÚ confirms the values of the specified properties along with the associated uncertainties. Certified Reference Materials (CRM) provide a foundation for the accuracy and consistency of measurements and are used in activities that require traceability to an internationally recognized realization of a physical or chemical unit.

SMÚ issues a reference material certificate for each CRM and retains a sample of the certified reference material in storage for the validity period of the certificate. In addition to European countries, SMÚ exports CRMs to several countries across North and Latin America, the Caucasus region, the Persian Gulf, and the Far East.
