On March 26, 2025, the Slovak Institute of Metrology (SMÚ) hosted the filming of the VAT – Science and Technology program. The premiere of this show was broadcast on the second TV channel of the Slovak Television and Radio Broadcasting (STVR) – DVOJKA, on April 12, 2025.

The program introduced experts from the Department of Thermometry, Photometry, and Radiometry, who presented the focus and activities of their department. They explained the basic principles of temperature measurement and the establishment of traceability, which are key to the accuracy of measurements in the field of metrology.

An interesting part of the program also included a mention of a significant milestone in metrology history – the 150th anniversary of the signing of the Metric Convention. This milestone played an important role in the context of the International System of Units (SI), which was highlighted by colleague Ing. Marian Krempaský on the occasion of this anniversary.

In the field of temperature, colleague Ing. Peter Pavlásek, PhD., also shared valuable information on the new definition of thermodynamic temperature (K), before and after its redefinition, and presented plans for the future development of thermometry at the the Slovak Institute of Metrology (SMÚ).
