National Standard of Pressure

The unit of pressure in Slovakia is ensured using a piston gauge, which has been fully developed and implemented at the SMÚ. The national standard of pressure consists of the set of pressure gauges, disc weights, piston gauges, and auxiliary instrumentation.The advantage of its realization at the SMU lies in its optimal adaptation to needs of Slovakia, where our equipment is compatible with piston gauges owned by SLM, being also largely products of the pressure laboratory's development during its joint operation within ČSMÚ.

Additionally, the latest versions of the piston gauge in the national standard of pressure are compatible with those of metrology institutes worldwide, which is beneficial for international comparisons.

The national standard of pressure ensures the realization of the unit within the pressure range of 2 kPa to 0.5 GPa, with uncertainties listed on the BIPM website under Calibration and Measurement Capabilities (CMC tables).
