National Standard for Neutrons

Content

National Standard for Neutrons consists of:

  • Irradiation devices, which generate neutron fields necessary for transferring the unit to lower-order standards and working measuring instruments. These include a set of radionuclide neutron sources based on ²⁴¹AmBe, ²⁵²Cf, and ²³⁹PuBe.
  • Measuring and evaluation devices, including a multi-channel analyzer from Canberra, a Bonner sphere spectrometer consisting of eight polyethylene and three metallic spheres, and two ³He proportional detectors—specifically SP9 with pressures of 2 atm and 4 atm.
  • Auxiliary equipment, such as a neutron irradiator, measuring bench, working platform, and various other devices.

Basic Metrological Properties:

Quantity Symbol Range Combined Standard Uncertainty [%]
Ambient Dose Equivalent Rate H˙n (10) 10 µSv/h to 1.5×10⁴ µSv/h 3-6
Personal Dose Equivalent Rate H˙pn (10) 10 µSv/h to 1.5×10⁴ µSv/h 3-6
Fluence Rate ψ* 2 cm⁻²s⁻¹ to 1000 cm⁻²s⁻¹ 3-6
