During the 61st Conference of the Calibration Association of the Slovak Republic, held on 21 April 2006 in Piešťany, SMÚ staff members Ing. Pavol Mates, CSc., and RNDr. Matej Krivošík, PhD., received the Ján Andrej Segner Awards in recognition of their long-standing active engagement and outstanding contributions to metrology. The awards were presented to the aforementioned colleagues, as well as to other laureates from across the metrology community, by the President of the Slovak Office of Standards, Metrology and Testing.

The purpose of the Ján Andrej Segner Award is to honour individuals or teams whose work has significantly contributed to the advancement of metrology, the assurance of metrological traceability of measuring instruments, and the accuracy and traceability of measurements in the Slovak Republic, or to the dissemination of knowledge about achievements in this field.

We extend our sincere congratulations to our colleagues and express our appreciation for their contributions in support of SMÚ as the National Metrology Institute of the Slovak Republic.
