Quality Policy
Sustainable senior management responsibility for the quality of work being undertaken and the involvement of all employees in the quality management system to ensure the future of SMU as a top scientific research institution, widely accepted at home and abroad.
Quality management system is applied to all activities in SMU. In the professional area, those activities include namely working with national standards, providing a wide range of metrology services, performance of the functions of an administrative authority, activities of the notified body. All activities are undertaken to meet current and future need of our customers.
SMU develops and maintains the measurement standards so that they are internationally accepted in terms of the CIPM MRA. This enables SMU to provide customer services at a reasonable level with internationally accepted certificates.
Performing the tasks set by legislative and other documents as well as meeting customer requirements is the primary objective of SMU staff. To achieve this objective, SMU carries out a wide range of metrological and other activities (such as calibration, expertise, conformity assessment of the instruments, the comparative measurements, comprehensive metrological services, education, etc.) in Slovakia and abroad.
SMU is intensively involved in scientific research activities, funded by national and international sources, especially in the international metrology research program. SMU capability to conduct research and development and to provide PhD. degree education is officially confirmed by relevant documents of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic.
SMU provides training in metrology, quality and testing at the highest professional level, especially through courses accredited by the above mentioned Ministry and extends it according to the requirements of potential participants.
SMU is working closely with other national metrology institutes, institutions, organizations and associations in metrology, notably with the BIPM, EURAMET COOMET and OIML.
One of the main objectives of SMU senior management is employee satisfaction. High quality training and participation of young workers in research projects is the future of the development of metrology in Slovakia.
A proactive approach to work, professionalism and creativity of all employees guarantees improvement of the SMU quality management system. Employees are loyal to the policy of SMU while SMU, on the other hand, appreciates its employees.
SMU cooperates with suppliers who meet its requirements for quality of goods and services.
SMU quality management system is in conformity with EN ISO 9001:2008, performance of calibration and testing services in compliance with ISO / IEC 17025:2005, production and certification of reference materials is in compliance with ISO/IEC Guide 34. The quality is governed by the following principles:
- minimum failures in the provision of metrological services, customer satisfaction and employee satisfaction,
- an internationally recognized quality of measurement standards ensures the competitiveness of SMU at domestic and foreign markets,
- continuous self-assessment and third party evaluation guarantees the functionality and improvement of the quality management system.
